The paper is organized around the idea that directional dynamics for cellular automata should not be restricted to linear directions. The main results are as follows: a) an extension of the theory of directional dynamics to arbitrary curves and a proof of a classification theorem; b) constructions and construction tools for equi-continuous dynamics; c) linear directions that correspond to equi-continuous dynamics characterizing the real numbers that can occur as bounds of the intervals of the slopes of the linear directions; d) constraints on the set of curves admitting equi-continuous dynamics in reversible cellular automata.
