The authors propose a characteristics-mixed covolume method for approximating the solution to a convection dominated transport problem. The diffusion term is discretized using a mixed covolume method, and the treatment of the convection term by the characteristic method. The existence and uniqueness of a solution to the discrete problem is shown.
