All topological spaces considered are regular Hausdorff. Let \({\mathcal U}\) be a family of subsets of a space X. The author calls \({\mathcal U}\) finite on compact subsets of X, briefly, CF in X, if for each compact set K in X, \({\mathcal U}/K\) is finite. In the first part of his paper the author compares CF families with other kinds of families of sets usually studied in topology. In the second part he investigates the properties of the hyperspace \({\mathcal K}(X)\) (of nonempty compact subsets) of a space X with finite topology, where X is a Lashnev space or a space which satisfies some condition formulated in terms of families studied in the first part.
