The authors deal with a set of mappings which arises in the study of dynamics of a chain of coupled driven pendula. A peculiarity of nonlinear coupled pendula is the existence of the so-called discrete breathers, which are spatially localized and time periodic solutions of the equations of motion. For an infinite chain of nonlinear coupled maps the authors prove the existence of localized periodic solutions when coupling is small enough. To this end the authors apply the discrete version of Floquet theory.
