The author deals with the Cauchy problem of a set of nonlinear evolution equations with ellipticity and dissipativity effects \[ \psi_t=-(1-\alpha)\psi-\theta_x+\alpha\psi_{xx} \] \[ \theta_t=-(1-\alpha) \theta+\nu\psi_x+\nu \psi_x+(\psi\theta)_x+\alpha\theta_{xx} \] \[ (\psi,\theta)(x,0)=\bigl( \psi_0(x),\theta_0(x)\bigr)\to(\psi_\pm, \theta_\pm)\text{ as }x\to\pm\infty, \] where \(\alpha\) and \(\nu\) are positive constants such that \(\alpha<1\), \(\nu<4 \alpha(1-\alpha)\). The main goal of this paper is to show the optimal decay rates of the diffusion wave by using Fourier analysis and an interpolation inequality.
