For weakly dissipative problems, the authors introduce a new concept, which is more general than translation compact ones. As an application, they consider the following non-autonomous systems with external forces \(h(x,t)\), which is translation bounded but not translation compact: \[ \begin{aligned} u_{tt}- u_{xx}+\alpha u_{tx}+\beta u_t+ f(u)= h(x,t),&\quad x\in(0,\ell),\;t\in\mathbb{R}_+,\\ u(0,t)= u(\ell,t)= 0,&\quad t\in\mathbb{R}_+,\\ u(x,\tau)= u^0_\tau(x),\;x_t(x,\tau)= u^1_\tau, &\quad x\in(0,\ell).\end{aligned} \] Under some suitable assumptions on the data, the authors prove existence of a uniform attractor.
