The authors study a piecewise analytic real expanding orientation-preserving map \(f:[0,1]\to[0,1]\) of degree \(d\) and a real analytic positive potential \(g:[0,1]\to{\mathbb R}\). They assume that the map \(f\) and the potential \(g\) have complex analytic extensions to some neighborhood of the interval \([0,1]\) in the complex plane. They also assume that \(\log g\) is well defined for this extension. They study the one-parameter family of potentials \(\beta\log g\), \(\beta\in{\mathbb R}\), and show that for every \(\beta\) there exists a real analytic eigenfunction \(\phi_\beta\) defined on \([0,1]\) (with a complex analytic extension) for the Ruelle operator of the potential \(\beta\log g\). They study conditions to guarantee the convergence of \(\frac1\beta\log\phi_\beta\) when \(\beta\to\pm\infty\). Of particular interest is the case of the so-called geometric potential \(\log g(x)=-\log f'(x)\) to which the results of this paper apply.
