Given a compact Riemannian manifold \(M\), the authors consider a warped product manifold \(\bar{M}=I\times_hM\), where \(I\) is an open interval in \(\mathbb R\), and a hypersurface \(\Sigma\) in \(\bar{M}\) defined by \[ \Sigma=\{(z(u),u)\mid u\in M\}, \] where \(z:M\to I\) is a differentiable function. For a positive function \(\psi\) defined on \(\bar{M}\), they generalize the arguments in [\textit{P. Guan} et al., Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 68, No. 8, 1287--1325 (2015; Zbl 1327.53009); \textit{C. Ren} and \textit{Z. Wang}, ``On the curvature estimates for Hessian equations'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1602.06535}] and obtain the curvature estimates for the Hessian equation: \[ \sigma_k(\kappa(V))=\psi(V,\nu(V)),\quad\forall V\in\Sigma, \] where \(\sigma_k\) is the \(k\)th elementary symmetric function, \(\kappa(V)=(\kappa_1,\dots,\kappa_n)\) are principal curvatures of \(\Sigma\) at \(V\), and \(\nu(V)\) is the inward unit normal vector at \(V\). They also obtain some existence results for the standard starshaped compact hypersurface \(\Sigma\) satisfying the above equation with various assumptions.
