Let \(\omega\) be a closed 1-form on a closed smooth manifold. The author defines a non-commutative zeta-function related to \(\omega\) (more precisely, to the first Hochshild homology of the corresponding Novikov ring). Then he considers a chain homotopy equivalence between Novikov complex of \((M,\omega)\) and a chain complex of the universal covering of \(M\) and proves that the torsion of such equivalence is related to the values of the above zeta-function. The paper is closely related to the paper of \textit{A. V. Pajitnov} [Closed orbits of gradient flows and logarithms of non-abelian Witt vectors. K-Theory 21, No. 4, 301-324 (2000; Zbl 1023.37008)] where the similar things are considered not for 1-forms but for maps in a circle.
