This monograph familiarizes the reader with theoretical foundations of vortex-dominated flows, provides in-depth analyses via matched and multiscale asymptotics, and demonstrates how insight gained through these analyses can be exploited in the construction of robust, efficient, and accurate numerical techniques. The dynamics of slender vortex filaments is discussed in detail, including fundamental derivations, compressible core structure, weakly nonlinear limit regimes, and associated numerical methods. Similarly, the monograph covers asymptotic analyses and computational techniques for weakly compressible flows involving vortex-generated sound and thermoacoustics. The present book is a revised, updated and enlarged edition of the first edition [\textit{T. Lu} and \textit{R. Klein}, Viscous vortical flows. Lecture Notes in Physics 374]. Maintaining the spirit of the first edition, this book serves both for graduate students and researches working in the areas of applied mathematics and of theoretical and/or computational fluid dynamics.
