The slicing problem asks whether any convex body of volume 1 has a hyperplane slice of volume bounded below by a positive constant independent of dimension. It is known that the slicing problem is equivalent to the conjecture that there is an upper bound, independent of dimension, of the isotropic constant. (The isotropic constant is related to the inertia ellipsoids of convex bodies.) Upper bounds for the isotropic constant were given by \textit{J. Bourgain} [Proc. lsr. Semin., GAFA, lsr. 1989--90, Lect. Notes Math. 1469, 127--137 (1991; Zbl 0773.46013)] and \textit{B. Klartag} [Geom. Funct. Anal. 16, No. 6, 1274--1200 (2006; Zbl 1113.52014)]. In the present paper, better bounds are given under the assumption that certain inequalities are fulfilled.
