A result of \textit{A. Freire}, \textit{A. Lopes} and \textit{R. Mané} [Bol. Soc. Bras. Mat. 14, No. 1, 45-62 (1983; Zbl 0568.58027)], says that any rational map \(f(z)= P(z)/Q(z)\) of the Riemann sphere of degree \(d\geq 2\), has a natural invariant measure \(\mu_f\). \textit{R. Mané} [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 5, 71-88 (1985; Zbl 0605.28011)], showed that \((f^n,\mu_f)\) is conjugate to a one-sided \(d^n\)-shift, with Bernoulli measure \((1/d^n,\dots, 1/d^n)\). It was conjectured that \((f,\mu_f)\) is conjugate to the one-sided Bernoulli \(d\)-shift, and the purpose of the authors is to verify this conjecture. The method of proof uses the recently developed criteria of \textit{C. Hoffman} and \textit{D. Rudolph} [Ann. Math. (2), 156, No. 1, 79-101 (2002; Zbl 1017.37005)] called tree very weak Bernoulli, which is equivalent to one-sided Bernoulli.
