The authors discuss the symmetric and symplectic extended Runge-Kutta-Nyström (ERKN) methods for oscillatory Hamiltonian systems. They investigate the symmetry and symplecticity conditions for EKRN methods when they apply Hamiltonion systems of particular form. They briefly discuss the formulation of EKRN methods and derive symmetry and and symplecticity conditions. Stability and phase properties of the new methods are given. Numerical experiments are given to check the effectiveness and efficiency of the new methods.
