For the determination of the quality of service parameters, the workload distributions must first be computed accurately. For a \(GI/GI/1\) server system, two different methods are presented here, the polynomial and the Wiener-Hopf factorization approach. In both cases, the server system's characteristic polynomial is factorized and verification methods are presented to guarantee the correctness of the results. Two numerical examples illustrate the calculations.
