The first aim of the present paper is to study the topological and combinatorial structure of Eulerian 2-strata spaces, which represent the simplest case of the so-called Eulerian stratified spaces (originally defined by the authors in [Eulerian stratification of polyhedra, Adv. Appl. Math. 21, No. 1, 22-57 (1998)]). In particular, Theorem 2.12 proves that Eulerian 2-strata spaces can be described in a way similar to topological 2-strata spaces, with homeomorphisms (between different fibers in a bundle) replaced by having the same Euler characteristic. From this view-point, the present paper may be considered the Eulerian analogue of \textit{C. B. Hughes}, \textit{L. R. Taylor}, \textit{S. Weinberger} and \textit{E. B. Williams} [Neighborhoods in stratified spaces I: Two strata, preprint], such as the already quoted paper by the same authors results to be the Eulerian analogue of \textit{F. Quinn} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 1, No. 2, 441-499 (1988; Zbl 0655.57010)]. The second aim of this paper is to find linear conditions on \(f\)-vectors of Eulerian 2-strata spaces over any abelian group. Theorems 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 provide an explicit and complete answer to the problem: note that, in contrast with the classical nonstratified case (where all linear conditions are induced from integral ones), certain torsion linear conditions already appear for 2-strata case.
