Let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(2\), and let \(B\) be a block of the group algebra \(kG\) with dihedral defect group \(D\) and precisely two simple modules. By a result of Erdmann, \(B\) is Morita equivalent to one of four specific algebras denoted here by \(\Lambda_{1,0}\), \(\Lambda_{2,0}\), \(\Lambda_{1,1}\) and \(\Lambda_{1,2}\). In each case, the authors determine the universal deformation ring \(R(G,V)\), for every indecomposable \(B\)-module \(V\) whose stable endomorphism ring is isomorphic to \(k\). The authors also show that, if \(B\) is the principal block then \(B\) is in fact Morita equivalent to either \(\Lambda_{1,0}\) or \(\Lambda_{2,0}\). In this case, the ring \(R(G,V)\) is always isomorphic to a subquotient of the group ring \(WD\) where \(W\) denotes the ring of Witt vectors over \(k\). The authors also note that a recent result by \textit{F. Eisele} [J. Algebra 356, No. 1, 90-114 (2012; Zbl 1276.16008)] shows that, even if \(B\) is a nonprincipal block, \(B\) is Morita equivalent to \(\Lambda_{1,0}\) or \(\Lambda_{2,0}\).
