In the context of discrete parabolic potential theory, the authors prove the existence and the uniqueness of the fundamental solution for the explicit (and for the implicit) difference operator of heat conduction, making use of discrete Fourier transform. Let \(\mathbb{R}^ 2_ h\) denote the set \(\{x= (kh, jh)\); \(k,j\in \mathbb{Z}\}\) and \( \mathbb{R}_{h_ t}\) denote \(\{t= \ell h_ t\); \(\ell\in \mathbb{N}\}\). It is shown that these fundamental solutions are in \(\ell^ 1_{\text{loc}} (\mathbb{R}^ 2_ h \times \mathbb{R}_{h_ t})\), and when \(h\) and \(h_ t\) tend to 0, they converge in the \(\ell^ 1\)-norm to the fundamental solution of the differential operator.
