In [\textit{Sh. A. Ayupov} and \textit{K. K. Kudaybergenov}, Infin. Dimens. Anal. Quantum Probab. Relat. Top. 13, No. 2, 305--337 (2010; Zbl 1203.46047)], the following problem has been formulated. Let \(M\) be a von~Neumann algebra of type \(II\) and let \(\tau\) be a faithful, normal, semifinite trace on \(M\). Is any derivation of the \(*\)-algebra \(S(M, \tau)\) of all \(\tau\)-measurable operators affiliated with \(M\), equipped with the measure topology generated by the trace, necessarily continuous? \textit{A. F. Ber} [Math. Notes 90, No. 5--6, 758--762 (2011; \url{doi:10.1134/S0001434611110137})] solved this problem affirmatively for a properly infinite algebra \(M\). Another problem was whether any derivation of the \(*\)-algebra \(LS(M)\) of locally measurable operators for \(M\) is necessarily continuous with respect to the local measure topology \(t(M)\), where \(M\) is a properly infinite von~Neumann algebra of type \(II\). The main results of this paper provide an affirmative solution to this problem. In fact, a much stronger result is established, namely, that any derivation \(\delta: A \rightarrow LS(M)\), where \(A\) is any subalgebra in \(LS(M)\) containing the algebra \(M\), is necessarily continuous with respect to the topology \(t(M)\).
