The authors consider the second order nonlinear difference equation \[ \Delta(r_k\triangle u_k) + q_k g(u_{k+1}) = 0 \] with \(g\) bounded or/and continuous. Several types of qualitative behavior of the solutions are considered: monotonicity, boundedness, for which several necessary or sufficient conditions are given. The existence of bounded increasing solutions is considered and also some applications to discrete boundary value problems.
