    In the present paper, the authors prove the following theorem: Let \(M\) be a compact real analytic Riemannian manifold. Assume that {\parindent7mm \begin{itemize}\item[(i)] All solutions of the isoperimetric problem in \(M\) are domains with smooth boundary \item[(ii)] The scalar curvature function achieves its maximum at a unique point, and this point is a non-degenerate critical point \item[(iii)] The isoperimetric profile of \(M\) is smooth. Then \(M\) is homeomorphic to a sphere. \end{itemize}}
