The article deals with a control volume method for a second order elliptic equation using \(Q_1\) nonconforming finite elements. The authors prove optimal \(H^1\) and \(L^2\) error estimates for a square partitioning of the computational domain. Finally, two numerical examples comparing the efficiency with the standard finite element method are presented.
