In response to a research question of the author and \textit{A. van der Bellen} [Econometrica 47, 1367-1389 (1979; Zbl 0418.90004)], \textit{J. S. Kelly} [Math. Soc. Sci. 8, 287-290 (1984; Zbl 0566.90007)] presented the theorem that, for decisive choices on finite sets of alternatives, sequential commutativity implies (hence characterizes) fidelity. Broadening attention from decisive to reflexive choices (decisive on the singletons) and dropping the finiteness assumption for sets of alternatives, we show that sequential fidelity for such choices is characterized by a condition several degrees weaker than sequential commutativity.
