Using the Noether method in the form proposed by \textit{B. D. Vujanovic} and \textit{S. E. Jones} [Variational methods in nonconservative phenomena. Mathematics in Science and Engineering, 182. Boston, MA etc.: Academic Press, Inc. x (1989; Zbl 0715.70003)], the author studies conserved quantities for constrained mechanical systems with finite number of degrees of freedom. Both direct (given Lie symmetries, find a conserved quantity) and inverse (given conserved quantity, find a Lie symmetry) problem are treated. Several illustrative examples are presented.
