The authors prove upper bounds for sums of Kloosterman sums \(S(m,n,c)\) against general arithmetic weight functions. In particular they prove the following statment. Let \(m\), \(n\), \(q\) be positive integers, \(X\geq 1\) and \(f_{\infty}:(0,\infty)\to\mathbb{C}\) is a smooth, compactly supported function. Then uniformly over \(mn\leq X^2\) one has \[ \sum_{c\equiv a\pmod{q}}\frac{S(m,n,c)}{c^{1/2}}f_{\infty}\left(\frac cX\right)\ll_{f_{\infty},\varepsilon}X^{1/2+2\vartheta}q^{1/2}(mnq)^\varepsilon, \] for any \(\varepsilon>0\) and any admissible exponent \(\vartheta\) for the generalized Ramanujan conjecture.
