A fuzzy set A in a fuzzy topological space X is called fuzzy almost compact if and only if every fuzzy open cover \({\mathcal U}\) of A has a finite subcollection \({\mathcal B}\) of \({\mathcal U}\) such that \(\cup \{Cl B:\) \(B\in {\mathcal B}\}\geq A\), where Cl B is the closure of B. Using the q- coincidence [\textit{Pao-Ming Pu} and the reviewer, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 76, 571-599 (1980; Zbl 0447.54006)], the authors get some elementary properties of the almost compact fuzzy sets.
