Given a Banach space \(X\), a function \(f: X\to {\mathbb C}\) is said to be holomorphic if \(f\) is continuous and its restriction to each affine line in \(X\) is a holomorphic function of one complex variable. The authors prove that, given an infinite-dimensional Banach space \(X\), then for any \(0<r<1\), any \(x\) in the unit sphere of \(X\), and any \(s>0\), there is a holomorphic function \(h: X\to {\mathbb C}\) which is bounded on the ball \(B(0,r)\) and unbounded on the ball \(B(x,s)\). Their proof is constructive using the Josefson-Nissenzweig Theorem, Goldstine's Theorem, and an induction argument.
