Let \(( A, \|\cdot\|)\) be a commutative Banach algebra, and let \(\alpha\) be an ideal in \(A\) which is a Banach space under a norm stronger than \(\|\cdot\|\). Given elements \(a_1,\dots, a_n\) of quotient algebra \(A/\alpha\), denote by \(\sigma(a_1,\dots, a_n)\) the joint spectrum of this collection. The finite-dimensional holomorphic functional calculus in \(A/\alpha\) has been constructed by \textit{L. Waelbroeck} [ Stud. Math., 75, 273-286 (1983; Zbl 0527.46041)]: for an open set \(U\subset{\mathbf C^n}\) such that \(\sigma(a_1,\dots, a_n)\subset U\) there is a homomorphism \({\mathcal O}(U, A/\alpha)\to A/\alpha\) which maps \(z_k\) on \(a_k\), \(k=1,\dots, a_n\), and this homomorphism is induced by a continuous linear map \({\mathcal O}(U, A)\to A\) which maps \({\mathcal O}(U, \alpha)\) into \(\alpha\). In this paper, the authors consider an analogue infinite-dimensional holomorphic functional calculus in \(A/\alpha\) and obtain the Arens-Calderon type theorem.
