The authors deal with the \(L_ p\)-approximation \((1\leq p\leq\infty)\) by multi-integer translates of a finite number of functions which are not necessarily compactly supported, but have a suitable decay rate. They introduce the concept of controlled \(L_ p\)-approximation of order \(k\) and characterize this concept in terms of the Strange-Fix condition of order \(k\).
