The authors show how to associate an Euler product to an automorphic form on the three-fold metaplectic cover of \(GL_ 3\). The method yields essentially the L-function of the representation which should correspond under the generalized Shimura correspondence to the original form. A particularly interesting feature of the proof is Proposition 6.1 in which, despite the nonuniqueness of Whittaker models, the authors construct the Euler product using Hecke theory. This is reminiscient of Andrianov's work on the L-functions of representations of symplectic groups and is just as remarkable.
