For solving nonlinear equations, the author derives some iterative methods which are three variants of Cauchy's iterative method. The construction of these methods is based on the Taylor expansion of the function from the left hand side of the equation, and in the third-order Taylor polynomial, the third derivative is approximated with a finite difference between the second derivatives. The new methods are proved to have at least fourth-order convergence, and require the same number of evaluations of the function per iteration as Cauchy's method, although, the order of convergence is improved. In the numerical examples presented, it is shown that these methods can compete with Cauchy's method.
