An upper optimal bound is obtained for the multiplicity (or dimension of the kernel of the corresponding matrix) of solutions to second-order linear differential equations on networks with general boundary and node conditions. This bound depends on an abstract-topological associated graph. This result can be applied to study the multiplicity of eigenvalues resulting of corresponding operators.
