The author has found some errors in the example problems from Henri Poincaré's paper ``Mémoire sur les courbes définies par une équation différentielle'' [Résal J. (3) VII. 375--422 (1881; JFM 13.0591.01) and ibid. VIII. 251--296 (1882; JFM 14.0666.01)]. Examples Four and Five from Chapter Seven and examples One, Two and Three from Chapter Nine do not have limit cycles at infinity as predicted by Poincaré. Instead, they have fixed-points at every point at infinity. In order to understand the errors made by Poincaré, the author studies examples Four and Five at length.
