A profinite group is a topological group isomorphic, as a topological group, to an inverse limit of finite groups. The paper under review studies ergodic properties, with respect to Haar measure, of maps so-called quotient preserving defined on second countable groups. The paper generalizes some results of \textit{V. S. Anashin}, [Discrete Math. Appl. 12, No. 6, 527--590 (2002); translation from Diskretn. Mat. 14, No.~4, 3--64 (2002; Zbl 1054.11041)].
