Flat spacetimes with compact hyperbolic Cauchy surfaces (Q814646): Difference between revisions

The author studies flat space-times admitting Cauchy hypersurfaces diffeomorphic to a closed hyperbolic manifold. It is proven that the holonomy determines exactly two such maximal structures (a past one and a future one). Using the notion of canonical cosmological time, the geometry of these maximal structures is investigated, including the asymptotic behaviour of the level hypersurfaces. The last part of the paper is devoted to an interesting duality between past singularities and some geodesic stratifications of the hyperbolic manifold.
