The authors describe and analyze a new trivariate macro-element of smoothness \(C^{(2)}\), defined on a tetrahedron \(T\) and constructed by splitting \(T\) into four subtetrahedra about its barycenter. They also give an optimal order error bound for its use in Hermite interpolation of \(C^{(m)}\) functions \((m\geq 6)\).
