The author describes some new finite difference schemes for approximating the following eigenvalue problem: \(y^{(4)}+py=\lambda qy\) (p,q\(\in C[a,b]\), \(p\geq 0\), \(q>0)\) with boundary conditions \(y(a)=y''(a)=y(b)=y''(b)\) or \(y(a)=y'(a)=y''(b)=y\prime''(b)\). He claims that the presented methods give two and higher than two order of convergence for the approximations of the eigenvalues.
