The authors consider the system of PDE underlying local isometric embeddings of Riemannian manifolds into Euclidean spaces. The subjects are: 1) interrelations between infinitesimal symmetries (Lie-Bäcklund transformations) of the PDE and Killing fields, resp. infinitesimal bendings; 2) interrelations between infinitesimal scalar invariants of the PDE and extrinsic, resp. intrinsic invariants of the isometric embedding.
