For an ill-posed operator equation involving a monotone operator on a Hilbert space an a posteriori parameter choice strategy is presented and conditions are given under which this strategy guarantees the optimal convergence rate \(O(\delta^{1/2})\) for Tikhonov-Browder regularizations in terms of the noise level \(\delta\) of the data perturbations.
