Inner traces of endomorphisms in ribbon ( = tortile tensor) categories are defined and discussed. It is also shown how to build abelian autonomous ( = rigid) tensor categories; interesting physical examples of this construction, such as the Ising model category, are provided. The paper concludes by examining Hopf algebras and their integrals in braided tensor categories.
