The authors consider generalized Wiener--Hopf operators associated with a finite-dimensional Euclidean space \(X\) and a closed, pointed and solid cone \(\Omega\subset X\). For \(f\in L^1(X)\), the operator \(W_f\) is defined on \(L^2(\Omega)\) by \[ (W_f u)(x)=\int_\Omega f(x-y)u(y)\,dy, \quad u\in L^2(\Omega),\quad x\in\Omega. \] The authors study the \(C^*\)-algebra \(W(\Omega)\) generated by such operators \(W_f\) and, in particular, the following problems: (i) determine a composition series of \(W(\Omega)\) and compute its subquotients; (ii) find Fredholmness criteria for Wiener--Hopf operators; (iii) obtain an index formula.
