The authors study the phenomenon of the overinterpolation: a function can be interpolated by a polynomial or rational function in more points than normally expected. The authors show that if a function \(f\) is overinterpolated, then \(f\) must be either a polynomial or a rational function. The authors also study the relation between overinterpolation and overconvergence.
