The paper deals with the initial value problem to the equation \(\triangle u-u_{tt}+| u| ^p=0\) on \(\mathbb R^n\times (0,\infty ).\) Initial data are supposed to be nonnegative on its support, that is compact and either of them to be positive on a part of \(\mathbb R^n,\) \(n\geq 4.\) In the case of the critical exponent \(p,\) blow up of a solution in a finite time is proved.
