Let \[ B_{k,n}(x):=\binom{n}{k}x^k(1-x)^{n-k} \] denote the \(k,n\) Bernstein polynomials, and let \[ M_{n,s}(x):=\sum_{k=0}^{n}{\Big|\frac{k}{n}-x\Big|}^sB_{k,n}(x) \] be its absolute moments of order \(s>0\). The main result of this paper is an upper and a lower bound for \(M_{n,s}(x)\) of the form \[ \frac{1}{n^r}\Bigl(c_r-\frac{c_r'}{n}\Bigr)\leq\sup_{x\in[0,1]}M_{n,2r}(x) \leq\frac{1}{n^r}\Bigl(c_r-\eta\frac{c_r'}{n}\Bigr), \] where \(r\in{\mathbb N}\), \(c_r:=\frac{(2r)!}{r!8^r}\), \(c_r':=c_r\frac{r(r-1)}{3}\) and \(\omega:=1.50308\ldots\) is a constant defined by a certain function. Hereby, the left inequality holds if \(n\geq{r^2}\) and the right inequality holds if \(\eta\in[0,\tfrac{3}{4})\) and \(n\geq260\omega^r/(1-4\eta/3)\).
