The authors generalize a result of \textit{A. Beauville} [Mich. Math. J. 48, Spec. Vol., 39--64 (2000; Zbl 1076.14534)] showing the following theorem: Every smooth quartic surface \(S\) in \(\mathbb P^3\) admits a 14-dimensional family of simple Ulrich bundles of rank 2 with \(c_1=3H\) and \(c_2=14\) (here \(H\) is the class of an hyperplane section of \(S\)). The second result obtained in this paper is the following: Let \(f=f(x_1,x_2,x_3)\) be a general ternary quartic form and \(X_f=\{ w^4=f(x_1,x_2,x_3)\}\). Then \(X_f\) admits a 14-dimensional family of stable Ulrich bundles of rank 2 with \(c_1=3H\) and \(c_2=14\). In particular, there exists a 14-dimensional family of 8-dimensional irreducible representations of the generalized Clifford algebra \(C_f\) defined by \(f\).
