Starting with the Euler equations the authors study the amplitude decay for the linearized equations governing irrotational vortex sheets and water waves with surface tension. The corresponding equations are derived in detail in the Appendix. Using oscillatory integral estimates the authors prove that the magnitude of the amplitude decays faster than \(t^{-1/3}\). The proofs are presented in detail, too.
