Let \(X\) be a smooth threefold in \(\mathbb{P}^5\) covered by a 3-dimensional family of plane curves of degree \(d\geq 2\). In this paper the authors prove that \(X\) is either a threefold contained in a quadric or the Bordiga or the Palatini scroll and in these cases \(d=2,3\). The proof is based on the properties of the normal bundles and on the classification of smooth surfaces in \(\mathbb{P}^4\).
