The exploration process was first introduced to study super-Brownian motion with general branching mechanism, and is also used for the study of a continuous random tree. This paper contains background on the subject, some martingales related to the exploration process, a proof that the exploration process satisfies the Feller property, and a computation of the infinitesimal generator of the exploration process for exponential functionals.
