The authors give the definition of confluent Cauchy-Vandermonde matrices and interpolation interpretation, and introduce Neville elimination. Then they analyze the factorization of the inverse of a special type of confluent Cauchy-Vandermonde matrix as a product of block bidiagonal matrices by using Neville elimination. They also consider the factorizations of confluent Cauchy-Vandermonde matrices generalizing the results of \textit{J. J. Martinez} and \textit{J. M. Peña} [Linear Algebra Appl. 284, 229--237 (1998; Zbl 0935.65017)].
