Centrosymmetric matrices and centro-Hermitian matrices are useful in engineering problems, information theory, linear system theory, linear estimation theory, and numerical analysis. The authors generalize the definitions of the above matrices introducing centroselfconjugate and centroskewselfconjugate matrices over a finite dimensional algebra with an involutorial authomorphism. Many problems in system and control theory, and perturbation analysis require the solution of three specific matrix equations previously studied by \textit{W. E. Roth} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 3, 392--396 (1952; Zbl 0047.01901)] and \textit{H. K. Wimmer} [Linear Algebra Appl. 109, 145--147 (1988; Zbl 0656.15005)]. In this paper necessary and sufficient conditions are given for centroselfconjugate and centroskewselfconjugate solutions of systems of such matrix equations. How to find out the mentioned constrained solutions remains an open problem.
