    The authors prove an existence and uniqueness theorem for positive solutions of the integral equation \(x(t) = \lambda \int_0^1 K(t,s) f(s, x(s)) ds\) where the kernel \(K : [0,1]^2 \to [0, \infty)\) is assumed to be continuous while \(f : (0,1) \times (0, \infty) \to (0, \infty)\) is continuous inside its domain of definition whereas \(f(t,x)\) may become singular as \(t \to 0\), \(t \to 1\), and \(x \to 0\).
